Hi, I’m Jason Bradley. I founded Mississippi Gamers Society in 2017 with my brother, Josh. We originally just wanted a community of local gamers where we could hang out, chat about games, group up for multiplayer, etc. At some point we started calling our group 601G since it’s much shorter and easier than Mississippi Gamers Society. Around the start of 2021, 601G had started growing beyond our original vision. We realized that we could do so much more with our passion project. We grew an excellent team of admins, moderators, and more and we started dreaming big. Organizing tournaments and eSports in our state, designing our own games, creating our own brand, merch, etc. We have so many ideas and we’re actively pursuing many of them. We hope to eventually make careers for ourselves running 601G and the amount of progress we’ve made so far is looking very promising.
So, I guess I should talk a bit about myself considering this is a bio for me, not the group. My formal education and work experience is all IT-related. I’m happily married with children. I love video games, anime, and my quiet rural living (though it definitely has its downfalls.) Born and raised in Mississippi and I’ll likely never leave. I would rather stay in-state and use 601G to make Mississippi better in my own way than to abandon my home state in favor of somewhere “nicer”. I love learning new things and exploring new hobbies, likely due to a rampant undiagnosed ADHD brain. Guitar, Japanese, game development, 3D modeling, digital art, and competitive fighting games are some of my more recent hobby ventures.
As for my video game interests, I’m unsurprisingly all over the place. I like collecting games and consoles primarily to re-acquire everything from my childhood but also to experience games that I may have missed out on. My fondest early childhood gaming memories would include Spyro the Dragon and Final Fantasy VII on our PS1, Pokemon Red & Blue on my Game Boy Color (and nearly every Pokemon game since then), Dragon Quest VIII on our PS2, and many other games on PS2 considering it was my favorite console growing up. Later in high school I very fondly remember Battlefield 3 & 4 shenanigans with my friends as well as Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Skyrim, and a healthy amount of Halo and Call of Duty. College involved a lot of Elder Scrolls Online, Super Smash Bros, and Rainbow Six: Siege. Nowadays, I primarily play on PC but my Nintendo Switch has quickly become one of my favorite consoles of all time. I still play a wide variety of games now but some favorites currently are Guilty Gear: Strive and my recent obsession: returning to Elder Scrolls Online.
